Living Oak is a prayer ministry, formed to give individuals a place to be prayed for in a relaxed, non-church environment. Dedicated prayer partners lift up individuals in prayer, so they can receive from God during that prayer time.
God
We believe in the one true living God, who is the creator and ruler of the universe, and who exists eternally in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-2; Isaiah 42:5
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, who is the only begotten Son of God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, took on human life, yet was sinless. He is fully God and fully man. He offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross, was buried and resurrected from the grave on the 3rd day. He ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father.
Matthew 1:18-25; John 10:30; Hebrews 4:15; Mark 15:25; Mark 15:37;
Mark 16:19
Holy Spirit
We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He indwells every true believer and fills each one, as they surrender to His will. He bestows spiritual gifts to serve God and provides guidance, power and understanding of spiritual truth.
Mark 1:10-11; 1 Corinthians 12; Ephesians 1:13-15, 5:8
Bible
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and written by man, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is God’s infallible and authoritative standard for Christian faith, thought and practice.
Psalm 119:19; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21
Salvation
We believe that salvation is God’s free gift to us, that we can choose to accept. We cannot earn or do works to gain salvation. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness, can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.
Ephesians 2:8-10, 4:11-13
Angels and Demons
We believe in the existence of immaterial, spiritual beings who were created by God. Angels are sinless, ministering spirits whom God sends to serve the Church. Demons are fallen angels who chose to join Lucifer (Satan), a fallen angel himself, in his rebellion against God. Cast out of heaven, Satan and his demons malevolently oppose God’s work on earth, until they are “thrown into the lake of fire”.
Hebrews 1:14; 2 Peter 2:4; Ezekiel 28:11-19; Revelation 12:7-17, 20:10
Eternity
We believe in eternal life. It will either be eternal life separated from God, or eternal life with God, through a belief in Jesus Christ. Separation from God is eternity in hell. Unity with God is eternal life with Him in Heaven.
John 17:3; 2 Timothy 2:11-13; Revelation 21:3-4, 21:8
